ADDIS ABABA – Accor, a world-leading augmented hospitality group, is adding a new flagship property to its portfolio in Africa with Fairmont Djibouti.
Located in Djibouti City, the property will be situated by the beach in Plateau Du Serpent offering its visitors convenient proximity to the port of Djibouti.
Set to open in 2024, Accor says the hotel will feature 155 rooms and 10 serviced apartments, with five food and beverage outlets combined with 1,398sqm of Meetings & Events facilities.
“Accor has always been a key player in the tourism industry across Africa,” said Mark Willis, CEO of Accor India, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, “and Djibouti is no exception.”
“We are confident that this project will greatly benefit the hospitality landscape of Djibouti with the introduction of one of Accor’s flagship luxury brand, Fairmont,” the CEO added.
Accor partners with Carnegie Hill Hospitality, a major player in the real estate sector in Djibouti, headed by Haibado Ismai, for its Fairmount project.
Habaido said the partnership with Fairmont and Accor “underlines our desire to create a unique place, emblematic of Djibouti”.
Once open, Fairmont Djibouti will welcome guests travelling for leisure and with family, while expecting a strong demand from corporate, governmental and military travelers. Djibouti’s vision for 2035, highlights tourism activity as a priority and hopes to attract 500,000 visitors by 2035.
Accor Group has been present in Africa for over 40 years and currently operates 155 properties (26,376 keys), with another 85 properties (16,765 keys) in the pipeline.
