Ashara Media May 23, 2023 (Ginbot 15, 2015 EC) Amharas Being Abducted by Government Forces Family members of student Solomon Dessie say he has been missing since his abduction. Solomon was a finance worker and fourth year student in Jigdan college in woreda 11 of Nefas Silk Lafto sub-city. On May 8, 2023 (Miyazia 30, 2015 EC), federal police abducted him from the library of Jigdan college where he was studying. On May 9, 2023 (Ginbot 1, 2015 EC), federal police searched his home and left and since May 9th his family members said they don’t know where he was taken. ================================ Artist Malet Dawit was abducted by regime forces. The abductions and arrests have continued in Addis Ababa. Melat was known for speaking about social issues, history and art, and she was reportedly taken from her home. Residents of Addis Ababa have told Ashara, Amharas have been profiled by their physical features and at times through identification. ================================ Amhara Farmers Protest Farmers have spoken out saying they missed planting season due to lack of seeds and fertilizer. Farmers in Weynema Workema kebele in Jabi Tehinan woreda (West Gojjam zone) say they have been unable to plant crops due to lack of seeds and fertilizer, which has left them in a serious situation. The farmers said local officials from the kebele to the zone levels were illegally selling seeds and fertilizer at prices such as 10,000 birr per box. For this reason, they have been exposed to a serious problem according to local farmers who spoke to Ashara Media. They said they have never seen something like this in their lives and that they have been unable to find anyone willing to listen. This is being done deliberately to economically target the farmers.
