ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported the lowest number of daily new Covid-19 cases in more than seven months as the virus claims the lives of four more people on Saturday.
In its report, the ministry of health confirms 19 more cases from 5, 211 tests conducted in the last twenty-four hours, the lowest infections recorded in a day since July 14, 2021.
The Ministry has also reported a significant number of recoveries in the reported period, bringing the severe and active cases number down.
As many as 1, 720 patients have recovered from the acute respiratory disease, says the report that puts the national recovery count so far to 416, 643.
In the same period, the number of severely sick patients in the ICU dropped by 9 to 91, reports the Ministry. These are among the 44, 522 confirmed active cases in the country.

Despite the decreasing trends, the ministry is still advising the public to observe health protocols put in place such as wearing face-masks to keep themselves safe from the deadly virus.
In the past 24-hours alone, Covid-19 has claimed the lives of four people, pushing the national death toll to 7,458.
Unvaccinated people are urged to get their Covid-19 vaccine shot as the country continues to push ahead with its second phase mass vaccination campaign on Saturday.
Close to 1.1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in the last 24-hours, reports the ministry of health.
To date, Ethiopia has inoculated over 23.8 million doses to its citizens against the virus. About 19.9 million people have also been fully vaccinated, says the ministry which administered the first Covid vaccine in the country on March 13, 2021.
