COVID-19: Ethiopia Records 6 More Deaths, 64 Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported six covid-19 related fatalities on Thursday, the highest the country recorded in a day since mid February.

The daily death figure has pushed the number of people who lost their lives to the virus to 7, 473, reveals a ministry of health report.



Health officials are still urging the public to remain vigilant and follow protocols including wearing face masks as they push ahead with their vaccine drives.

According to the report, over 298, 400 Covid vaccine shots have been given to the public.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 25.3 million doses of the Covid vaccine, says the report that puts the total of fully vaccinated Ethiopians at 20.8 million.

– More Recoveries –

The confirmed cases tally has also continued to drop as more patients of Covid-19 recover on the day.

The ministry says about 484 patients have regained their health in the past 24-hours, pushing the recovery tally to nearly 420, 000.



In the same period, the country registered 64 new infections from more than 4,600 tests conducted.

There are now 41, 382 confirmed active cases nationwide. Of which, 85 are severely sick patients, the ministry says.

The East African nation identified its first Coronavirus case in March, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 468, 850 infections from 4.52 million tests conducted so far.
