Ethiopia-China Fair Promotes Agriculture and Mining Industry Cooperation

Addis Ababa has today hosted the Ethiopia-China Fair to promote cooperation on agriculture and mining sector between the business communities of the two countries.

The Ethiopian Investment Commission, and the Ethiopian Youth Entrepreneurs Association organized the one-day event together with China’s Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

The fair, dubbed The ‘Ethiopia-China Agriculture and Mining Industry Cooperation Fair’, aimed to bring the business communities of the two countries together, per authorities.

The event offered networking opportunities fostering tangible industry cooperation between Ethiopia and China, said Ambassador Negus Kebede, Deputy Director General of the Middle East, Asia and Pacific Countries Affairs at the Ministry foreign Affairs (MoFA).

It served as a platform for 36 chinese companies including major enterprises visiting from China’s Hunan province, to meet their Ethiopian counterparts and discuss cooperation.

“Hunan is one of China’s most significant provinces, maintaining robust business exchanges with Ethiopia,” said Wu Zhaoshu, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Changsha Economic and Technical Development Zone,

The Deputy Director came to Ethiopia on Monday, leading a delegation of Chinese companies, on a four day visit to explore the various investment opportunities in the East African nation.

The Ethio-China fair was part of this endeavor.

A B2B session on investment, trade and procurement projects in mining, agriculture and other industries were part of the program, per MoFA.

The Ethio-China Fair was also attended by Aklilu Tadesse, CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation; and Eng. Melaku Ezezew, President of Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association; and representatives of the Chinese Embassy, along with 36 Chinese companies and their Ethiopian counterparts were in attendance.
