Ethiopia is currently plagued by deaths and displacements of the Amhara people. These include the massacre of Amharas in Addis Ababa, Shashemene, and Jimma Zones in Oromia, the massacre of ethnic Amharas in the Mai-Kadra, the ongoing massacre of Amharas living in the Metekel Zone, the massacre of ethnic Amhara people living in the Wellega region of Oromia and the ongoing massacre of ethnic Amhara people in the Ataye and Majete of Northern Shewa in the region of Amhara. The …massacre in Zuway, Legatefo, Dodola, Bale, and several other regions of Ethiopia continues on a daily basis with the Government not taking any action to save lives and protect livelihoods. It has become clear that Abiy Ahmed actively promotes and condones the systematic extermination of the Amhara people. Evidence has come to light in which mass killings and massacres against the Amhara people are funded and orchestrated by the state machinery which includes regional Oromo government leaders and Federal Government structures. Government-funded terrorist camps are numerous in Oromia and are not only used to train terrorists and genociders but also to launch attacks on innocent Amhara civilians. Amhara survivors of the genocide as well as Ethiopian human rights activists had been relentlessly imploring the Federal Government to protect thousands of Amharas facing daily massacres because of their identity in Wellega. However, the Oromuma project led by Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali involves mass extermination of all Amharas and ethnic cleansing from non-Oromo people of the Oromia Region in Ethiopia. Recently on February 7th, 2022, 168 Amharas were brutally murdered in Oromia, Kelem Wellega Zone, in Gidami Wereda. While 87 corpses were found in one place, 81 other badly mutilated corpses were found dispersed in different parts of the district. In addition, 16 children were were kidnapped and murdered by the Oromo forces. Furthermore, close to 100, 000 Amharas who were displaced in order to escape the massacre are caught in a death trap, by a blockade sanctioned by the Oromia Regional Government, leading to a severe humanitarian crisis in the region. So far, mainstream media, human rights organizations, international organisations including the African Union have turned a blind eye to the worsening plight of the Amhara people. All Amhara people living in Oromia regions need immediate protection. This is a time for the whole world, especially Africans to come and rescue the Amhara people of Ethiopia. We call upon all people of Africa to open up their hearts and share the pain, agony and suffering of the Amhara people of Ethiopia. All Africans who believe in peace and the protection of human lives need to demonstrate their commitment to saving lives in Ethiopia. The pain, suffering and loss of lives among the Amhara people of Ethiopia have now become unbearable. They need to stop now. We call upon all members of the African Union to strongly condemn crimes against humanity committed against ethnic Amhara people in Ethiopia. We also call upon the African Union to demand an immediate end to Government-Sponsored Genocide of the Amhara people of Ethiopia!!! No human being should be subjected to such amount of hate crimes!! Yedith G Yodith Gideon, Director CC: 1. His Excellency Mahamat Moussa Faki, African Union Chairperson 2. Head of States, African Union Member States
