Ethiopia Logs 336 Covid Cases, 4 Deaths over the Weekend

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 336 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and four related fatalities in the last forty-eight hours, according to the ministry of health. 

The new infections identified in the reported period have brought the country’s confirmed total to 489,341, the latest covid update issued on Sunday evening shows.



The recovery count has reached 464,202, said health officials after a combined total of patients recuperated from Covid-19 on Saturday and Sunday. 

There are now  17596 active cases in Ethiopia. About 56 of these patients have been admitted to the hospital after they become severely sick, the latest Covid update on Sunday shows.

The deadly respiratory disease has also claimed the lives of four patients in the last 48 hours. The nation’s Covid-related death toll currently stands at 7,541.

Health experts are still advising the public to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocols including wearing facemasks when in crowded places. 



They are also urging the public to get the vaccine shot after launching the third round of the vaccination campaign over a week ago.

Ethiopia has administered over 52.1 million doses of the vaccine, so far. Nearly 110,000 of the total doses given to the public were administered in the last forty-eight hours, according to data from the ministry of health.

Health officials started offering the Covid vaccine in Ethiopia in March 2021. Since then, they also managed to fully vaccinate 42.7 million people against the Coronavirus.
