ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 193 more novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections and 9 related deaths on Wednesday, according to its Ministry of Health.
In its daily report, the ministry said the latest positive cases were confirmed from 5, 785 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours.
Nine more Coronavirus-related deaths and 172 recoveries have also been registered in the reported period, pushing the death toll to 6, 647 and recoveries count to 346, 265.
There are now 16, 523 confirmed active cases nationwide, of whom 289 are severely sick, the report shows.
The East African nation has so far confirmed 369, 437 Coronavirus infections after testing nearly 3.8 million people.
– Vaccination Push –
Its health officials are urging the public to observe the health protocols put in place to tackle the pandemic including wearing face masks.
They are doing so while intensifying the national vaccine drive with a launch of a two-week long campaign on Tuesday.
In the last twenty-four, 47, 593 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been offered to the public, says the report that puts the total odds doses administered in the country at 5,132,510.
Ethiopia starred vaccinating its citizens on March 13, 2021. To date, more than 3.73 million people have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
The country, which is offering Johnson & Johnson, AstaraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines, targets to inoculate as many as 22 million people by January.
