ADDIS ABABA – At least 2, 572 Covid-19 patients have recuperated on Sunday, pushing the recovery tally in Ethiopia to 300, 684, says the ministry of health.
The daily recovery tally has outnumbered the new Covid-19 cases that the Ministry reported for the day.
Ethiopia has recorded a total of 958 new cases from 6, 327 tests conducted in the last twenty-four hours, says the ministry in its Covid-19 report.
A further 15 people have also died due to the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, pushing the death toll to 5, 131.
There are now 27, 145 confirmed active Covid-19 cases in the country. Of which, 784 patients are severely ill, the ministry indicates.
Ethiopia confirmed its first Covid-19 case on March 13, last year. Since then, it has recorded close to 333, 000 infections after conducting nearly 3.4 million tests.
The total confirmed tally puts the country among the hardest hit nations in Africa. Health experts are still urging the public to keep themselves safe by wearing face masks, social distancing, proper hand washing as well as getting vaccines.
The country is offering Covid-19 vaccines in medical institutions as part of its national immunization campaign to control the pandemic.
About 52, 561 doses of vaccine have been offered to the public, according to data from the ministry.
More than 2.44 million Ethiopians have received the vaccine since the country initiated the ongoing vaccination drive on March 13, 2021.
