Ethiopia Records 737 New Covid-19 Cases, 34 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 737 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Monday, bringing the national confirmed tally to more than 333, 000, the ministry of health reports.

The East African nation tested 5, 351 people to identify the new positive case in the past twenty-four hours, the Ministry’s Covid-19 report says.



Additional 34 people have also died due to Covid-19 in the same period, taking the national death toll to 5, 164.

Currently, there are 831 critically ill patients in the ICU, claims the report, which puts the active case count at 26, 747.

It also says a total of 1, 101 patients have recuperated from the disease in the reported period.

Ethiopia recorded its first case on March 13, 2020.

Since then, it has conducted close to 3.39 million tests to confirm a total of 333, 698 positive infections. Of which, 301, 785 of them have recovered, according to the ministry of health.

Health experts are urging the public to observe the health advice put in place including wearing face masks, social distancing and proper hand washing.

The public is also urged to take the Covid-19 vaccine made available in several health stations as part of the ongoing mass vaccination campaign.

Over 165, 700 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the past 24-hours, according to today’s report.

Ethiopia launched the vaccination campaign on March 13, 2021. To date, it has vaccinated a total of 2, 555, 907 people against the virus.
