ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 99 fresh Covid-19 infections and one related fatality in the last twenty-four hours, a ministry of health report claims.
The report published on Thursday evening says the latest positive cases have brought the nation’s confirmed Covid-19 total to more than 491, 500.
At least 468,421 of these patients have regained their health, reports the ministry, after adding only 29 recoveries today.
The number of seriously ill covid patients has, however, remains relatively the same as in the previous 24 hours.
With the admission of one severely sick patient to a hospital, health officials say there are now 41 severe Covid-19 cases in Ethiopia.
These patients are among the 15,521 confirmed active cases of Covid in the country.
According to the report, the national Coronavirus-related fatality total has also reached 7,564 after one patient succumbed to the disease during the past 24 hours.
The East African nation has also continued to provide the covid vaccine to the public today. Over 9, 100 doses of the covid shots have been given to the public nationwide in the last 24 hours, the health ministry reports.
The newly offered doses have brought the total of covid vaccine shots administered nationally to more than 52.5 million.
More than 42.3 million people have also received at least two shots of the vaccine.
Health officials, who launched the national vaccine drive in March 2021, plans to reach 60% COVID-19 vaccination coverage by the end of 2023.
