Ethiopia, Turkey Eyes More Development Cooperation

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia and Turkey expressed their readiness to further strengthen their long standing cooperation in development, according to the Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD).

The ministry said this on Wednesday following a meeting between Planning and Development Minister, Fitsum Assefa and top officials of Turkey’s Development and Cooperation Agency in Addis Ababa.

During the meeting, Fitsum explained to the Turkish officials Ethiopia’s key agendas in its development plan, says MoPD in a statement.



The minister also said the contribution of Turkey in capacity building, particularly in education and related sectors in Ethiopia, would be paramount.

The two sides further discussed ways of strengthening the longstanding partnership in trade and investment as well as future cooperation areas between the two countries.

Turkey is the second largest investor in Ethiopia, next to china with its investment currently standing at $2.5 billion Dollars.
