Ethiopian Airlines Signs Component Deal with AFI-KLM E&M for B777 Fleet

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Airlines has entered into a component support services agreement with a French and Dutch aviation engineering firm for its Boeing 777 fleet.

The agreement with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) was announced on Wednesday during the MRO Africa 2024 in Addis Ababa.

As per the deal, AFI KLM E&M has started a component support program for Ethiopian Airlines’ entire B777 fleet which includes up to 25 aircraft.

Under the program, AFI KLM E&M will provide Ethiopian Airlines with comprehensive coverage of all major components, including rotable spares, and component repairs support for their 777 fleet, involving the 777-200LR, 777-300ER, and 777F.

“This collaboration ensures adherence to the utmost safety and reliability standards for our clientele,” said Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew.

He added: “We are dedicated to enhancing global aviation safety, efficiency and sustainable global aviation ecosystem through strategic partnership.”

The national flag carrier currently operates twenty Boeing 777 fleet of aircrafts. The latest partnership with AFI KLM E&M comes months after Ethiopian signed an MoU to purchase eight B777-9 passenger planes with the potential for upto 12 more.

AFI KLM E&M says the collaboration will enable the airline to focus on providing its customers with safe and reliable air travel and improve its operational efficiency.

“It is with great honor that we have been selected by Ethiopian Airlines, a major African operator,” said Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President of the AFI – KLM E&M. “We embark on a journey of reliability and comprehensive component support services for their entire 777 fleet, fostering operational excellence in the skies.”

Ethiopian Airlines is the largest airline in Africa, serving more than 130 destinations worldwide. The airline operates a modern fleet of aircraft, including the 787 Dreamliner, 777 and Airbus A350.
