Ethiopian Electric says Power restored In Dessie, Bati & Two Other Towns

ADDIS ABABA – Electricity service has been restored in the historical city of Dessie and three other recently liberated towns of Amhara region, said the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP).

Yesterday, the EEP said its crew woud stay on their job till midnight to reconect Dessie withe power grid after they finshed repairing the major transmission line, damaged by the terrorist-designated TPLF.



Dessie has been without electricity for weeks after TPLF’s fighters invaded the city. It was liberated together with Kombolcha town by federal and regional forces last Monday.

After days of efforts, the EEP said its crew were able to resume electric service in the historical city on midnight Friday – hours after the service restored in Kombolcha.

Ethiopian Electric Power teams have also continued their efforts to restore power to residents of more towns and areas on Saturday.



Power has been restored in Akesta, Mehalsite, Ajibar and Bati towns on Saturday after two major transmission lines including Dessie-Legambo-Wereilu were repaired.

EEP said efforts are still ongoing to maintain and rebuild damaged infrastructures in other liberated areas to address power outages.
