Tewolde The Ethiopian scientist Berhan Gebre Egziabher received the Just Livelihood Award in 2000 for his outstanding contributions to the preservation of biodiversity and the customary rights of farmers and communities to their genetic resources.
After a protracted illness, The Scintest passed away last night in the company of his family.
Gebre Egziabher was born on February 19th, 1940 in Adwa, a village in the Tigray Region. He is Egziabher’s famous author Sebhat Gebre-brother. He attended the Negeste Saba (Queen of Sheba) Primary School in Adwa from October 1951 to June 1955. Gebre Egziabher attended Addis Abeba’s General Wingate Secondary School from September 1955 to July 1959.
It is commonly known that Dr. Tewolde is the brother of author Sebhat Gebregzhaber.
Dr. Tewolde produced more than 30 papers using both original research and analysis of linkages between society and environment throughout history in Ethiopia and around the world.
