ADDIS ABABA – Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse has expressed her appreciation to the Mihret Medical Supply Group and its partners that donated medical supplies worth $4.8 million to Ethiopia.
The US-based firm, owned by Dr Tilahun Goshu, and its partners shipped the donation to Ethiopia on Sunday, according to Ethiopian embassy in the US.
“My warm appreciation to Dr. Tilahun Goshu and partners for the generous donation of medical equipment and medical supplies to #HealAndRestore damaged health facilities,” tweeted Dr. Lia on Monday.
The shipment includes four containers of fortified meals, medical equipment, medical supplies, and one container full of life-saving medications.
In total, the donation is valued at $4.8 million, said Fitsum Arega, Ethiopian ambassador the US, while extending his gratitude for the latest support on Sunday.
This is the second time in a year that the Mihret Medical Supply Group provided support to Ethiopia.
Last January, the group donated medicines and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth $290,000 to Ethiopia in support of country’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
