ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian national football team started their preparation in Adama for the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
The Walias will play first-round qualifier matches against South Sudan on 22 July and 31 July in Tanzania.
The winner of the two-legged game will then face Rwanda in August to determine the qualifying team for the CHAN 2023 which will be held in Algeria from 8 January to 5 February, next year.
The tournament brings together players plying their trade within domestic leagues.
Ethiopia’s head coach Wubetu Abate already named a 23-man squad including Ethiopian Premier League’s player of the season Gatoch Panom and top scorer Yigezu Bogale.
The Walias are currently holding their training sessions at the stadium of Adama Science and Technology University.
