ADDIS ABABA – Foreign Ministers of Ethiopia and UAE discussed the recent peace deal in Ethiopia and various regional and bilateral issues.
FM Demeke Mekonnen met with Foreign Minister of the UAE Sheik Abudullah bin Zayed, in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
During the meeting, Demek briefed UAE’s Foreign Minister about the recent peace agreement signed between the Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF.
He expressed the commitment and readiness of the Federal Government to implement the peace agreement towards ensuring sustainable peace in the country.
Abdullahi, on his part, welcomed the peace agreement reached to end the conflict in northern Ethiopia.
He reiterated his country’s support of any kind for the implementation of the peace agreement.
The two sides further discussed enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of trade and investment, among others.
Abdullahi reiterated the commitment of the UAE Government to elevate partnerships, including in the areas of trade and investment, to the highest possible level.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke is participating in the 13th Sir Bani Yas Forum, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE this week.
The forum discusses peace and security and related issues in the Middle East and the region at large.
