Ethiopians in California Donate Medical Supplies to War-Hit Health Centers

ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopians residing in Northern California have donated medical supplies worth 27 million Birr to support health facilities in war-affected areas of Ethiopia.

Representative of the Northern California Health Professionals Association and community, Dr. Kidist Kidane handed over the medical supplies to Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse on Monday.

Health Minister Lia commended the community for the support of medical equipment and supplies that will be used to restore four health facilities.

The Minister has also urged Ethiopians at home and abroad to continue their contribution to the efforts to restore health centers in conflict-affected areas.

Members of the Ethiopian community in north California collected the medical equipment and supplies after discussions with the Ministry of Health a few months ago. The supplies valued at 27 million Birr arrived in Ethiopia in two 40 feet containers.

“Our team has worked very hard to raise the funds to accomplish their promises,” Dr. Kidist said.

North California Ethiopian Health Professionals Association & community collaborated with MedShare, a nonprofit US-based organization, to collect and donates medical supplies.

The medical supplies will be provided to four health centers located in Wag Hemra and North Wollo.
