Ethiopia’s Export up by 42.48% to $333.9 million in November

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s export trade in November grew by 42.48% as compared to the same period last year, reaching more than $333.9 million, said Ministry of Trade and regional integration.

The exports stood at nearly $234.37 million in November 2020.



In a statement on Friday, the Ministry said the target was to export agricultural, manufacturing, minerals and other commodities to the international market and collect a little over $334 million.

It said the country managed to achieve 99.95% of the target, amassing $333.93 million during the 30-day period beginning November 10, 2021.

Coffee, textile and apparel, Flower, electric energy were among the top performing export commodities, achieving more than the target set for the month.

Gold, livestock and leather were among the most commodities that underperformed, attaining below 60% of their target.



In terms of achievement, agriculture sector performed best generating $228.8 million. The ministry’s plan was to obtain nearly $190 million.

Manufacturing and minerals came second and third, bringing in more than $45.84 million and $50.3 million, respectively. These sectors were expcted to generate $46.2 million and $91.49 million, respectively.
