ADDIS ABABA – Fasil Kenema kicked off their African Confederation Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over Bumamuru FC of Burundi.
The first leg fixtures of the first preliminary round of the 2022/23 Confederation cup are taking place across the continent
Fasil hosted the Burundian team at Bahir Dar National Stadium on Friday afternoon and won with a significant margin of 3-0.
Alembirhan Yigazaw scored the first goal of the game in the first half (34′).
In the second half, Fasil increased their lead thanks to goals by Fikadu Alemu (63′) and Tafesse Solomon (82′).
The return match leg will be held in Burundi next week on Sept 16, 2022.
Fasil, should they progress, will face three-time champions CS Sfaxien of Tunisia for a place in the group stage.
Fasil are playing in the confederation cup after finishing runner-up in the 2021/22 Ethiopian Premier League campaign.
