The accused, Mohammed Ijeta, was apprehended while moving around the districts of West Bale Zone, attempting to dupe eleven girls in various ways and convince their families to traffic them illegally, according to a communication from the Bale Zone Police Department.

The defendant was apprehended by police while riding in a covered vehicle with eleven children aged nine to twelve along the coast of Moyale. The Bale Zone Police contacted the Borena Zone Police after receiving a tip from the local community, and the man was negotiating to sell the children at the time of the capture.

The defendant was sentenced to ten years in prison and a fine of five thousand birr by the Bale Zone High Court, which had been monitoring the prosecutor’s investigation file by importing the suspect from Moyale City in Borena Zone. ‌‌
