Eighteen people were detained after it was found that they were using motorbikes illegally to transport fuel, drugs, security clothing and shoes for security personnel, and weapons, according to Commander Habtamu Temesenge.
In response to the frequent security issues in Nekemte city and the surrounding neighborhoods and kebeles, a security operation resulted in the seizure of 16 firearms, 7 handguns, and 2 bombs that were intended to be covertly delivered to the armed forces.
As a result of the city’s fuel supply issue, it has been reported that people who were found to have more than 2,000 liters of fuel stored in jerrycans and barrels inside of their homes have been arrested.
In addition, the people who were illegally transporting the drugs had 22 motorcycles and two cartons of drugs in their possession.
