Inaugural Hachalu Hundesa Award Honors Artists

ADDIS ABABA – Haacaaluu Hundeesaa Foundation hosted an inaugural music award ceremony, honoring both emerging and established musicians.

The ceremony held on Wednesday saw artists from various categories recognized with awards named after the late artist Hachalu Hundesa.



Hallo Dawa, Ibrahim Ali, and Zeryhun Wodajo were among the first receive the award for their “contribution to the Oromo art”.

The legendary Musician Ali Bira has also been recognised with a lifetime achievement award.

The foundation has also honoured persons who contributed to the successful hosting of the first Hachalu Hundesa award ceremon.

The ceremony was attended by artists as well as families of the late artist Haacaaluu including his wife Fantu Demisse.

More efforts will be exerted to make the award among the top annual event that recognises artists’ works and their achievements, the the foundation said.
