Japan Assists Library Construction Project in Addis

ADDIS ABEBA – The Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia said on Thursday it has supported the construction project of a library in Addis Abeba.

The embassy signed a grant contract for “The Project for Construction of Library and Teachers’ Rooms of Temenja Yaj Primary School, Kirkos Sub-city, Addis Abeba” on Thursday.

The signing of the grant contract was held in the presence of ITO Takako, Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, and Abate Kelbe, the Principal of the School.

Japan has donated up to USD 90,158, or equivalent to 3,400,000 birr, for this project, through the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

“Under this project, one new building with a library floor and five teachers’ rooms with furniture will be constructed at the Temenja Yaj Primary School,” said the embassy in as statement.

The School requested Japan’s assistance to accommodate the growing number of students at the school.

The implementation of this project will enable the students and teachers to study and work in an improved environment, it added.

Japan has implemented over 400 projects across Ethiopia since the GGP was introduced in 1989.
