Kenyan Hospitality College Keen to Invest in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC), a Kenyan Hospitality and Culinary Arts Training Institute, is keen to expand its investment to Ethiopia, its official said on Friday.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Kenya Meles Alem, and Director of BIHC Dr. Abbas Gullet, met on Friday to deliberate on various areas of cooperation.

These include investment opportunities in the hospitality industry and sports tourism between the two neighboring countries, said the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi.



Dr. Gullet commended the face-lifting effort undertaken by the Ethiopian Government on the City of Addis Ababa and deliberated on how Kenya and Ethiopia can join forces in sports tourism to further expedite ties.

The director also said there is a lot Ethiopia can offer to the world in terms of culture and tourism.

BIHC is ready to provide the country a world class school of hospitality in the region, according to its Director.

Ambassador Meles, on his part, conveyed his appreciation for BIHC’s decision to invest in the hospitality industry in Ethiopia.

The Ambassador also assured that Ethiopia is the right choice as it is the houses the headquarters of the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the regional offices of several International Organizations.



Alluding to the fact that foreign investors could tap in the huge potentials of the youth in Ethiopia, the Ambassador noted that it is unthinkable to contemplate tourism without the hospitality industry.

He also expressed his strong belief that BIHC’s investment in the hospitality industry in Ethiopia will play a crucial role in filling the gap by providing a well-educated and equipped workforce to the sector.
