PM Abiy Holds talks with German and France FMs

ADDIS ABABA –  Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held talks with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and French Foreign Minister Catherine Collonna who started their joint visit to Ethiopia on Thursday.

The French and German diplomatic chiefs arrived in Addis Ababa with a mission, Collonna claimed, aimed at “consolidating the peace agreement” signed between the government and TPLF two months ago.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Abiy received the two diplomats Collonna and Baerbock together at his Office for the discussion.

“Our in-depth & fruitful discussions are reflective of the strong relations Ethiopia holds with both France and Germany,” said PM Abiy in a tweet.

The Visit’s plan

During their two-day stay in Ethiopia, Baerbock said she and her French counterpart plan “to do three things”.

These are, she said, to “explore with authorities on how to support the country on its way to lasting peace and accountability for human rights abuses”.

The two diplomats will also discuss food security in the Horn of Africa and strengthen Europe’s partnership with the African Union (AU).
