ADDIS ABABA – Education authorities have announced the second round national exam schedule for Grade 12 Students of the 2021/22 Ethiopian academic year.
The 2021/22 secondary school exit exam was planned to be administered to nearly a million students in two rounds.
The majority of the students (or more than 900, 000) are awaiting results after taking the exam last October. The remaining grade 12 students will now sit for the national exam in the second round.
Today, Education Assessment and Examination Service (EAES) has disclosed that the second-round exam will be administered between December 27 and December 30, 2022, inside public universities,
“Students need to take the necessary preparations as per this schedule,” said the Examination agency.
According to the agency, the second round will allow students who were unable to sit in October for various “legitimate reasons.”
These include students who were unable to sit in the first round due to pregnancy and related reasons as well as members of the military who were on duty.
Several students who were injured during the bridge collapse at Hawassa University will take the exam as well as social science students who missed one exam due to another incident at Debre Tabor University.
This year, the Ministry of Education changed the exam venues from high schools to public universities to prevent cheating and prevent possible leaks.
The move required them to transport more than 900, 000 students and examiners to 133 exam centers across the nation and vice versa.
“Despite the issues that happened on the first day of the exam for the social science students, the exams have been successfully administered as per its time frame,” the Ministry said at the end of the two-week exam period.
