Twelve AAU Scholars Get Full Professorship

ADDIS ABABA – The Addis Ababa University (AAU) has promoted a dozen of scholars including two women to the rank of full professorship.

On Wednesday, the University announced that its governing board approved the professorship of the facility after they were nominated by the Senate.

The academics have been serving at the university for a long time in their respective fields of discipline.

Alongside this service, according to AAU, the number of research papers they published, their contributions to academic and institutional leadership of the university have been taken into consideration to approve their professorship.



Two of the 12 academics promoted to the full professorship rank are women. They are Prof Yimtubezenslash Woldeamanuel in Medical Microbiology and Prof Enguday Adem in Curriculum study.

Also in the list are Prof of Pharmaceutics Antneh Belete from the College of Health Sciences, and Prof of Urban Planning Solomon Mulugeta from College of Social Sciences.

The College of Natural and Computational Sciences dominated the list with eight new professors.

It involves Prof of Analytical Chemistry Ahmed Hussen, Prof of Plant Genetics Kassahun Tesfaye, Prof of Condensed Matter Physics Teshome Senbeta, and Prof of Paleoenvironment Mulugeta Fisseha.

The remaining four are Prof of Human Nutrition Kaleab Taye, Prof of Medical Entomology Habte Tekie, Prof of Plant Biotechnology Teklehaymanot Haileselassie, and Prof of Microbiology Tadesse Egwale.
