The district reported that due to the heavy rain that had been falling today since 4pm, 12 people who were returning from the fields close to Segen in Konso Zone were swept away by the flood.
Only two of the bodies of those who were swept away by the flood have reportedly been found, and the neighborhood is still searching for more. Three of the 12 are residents of Garche kebele, and nine of the 12 are district residents of Ailota Dokatu kebele.
As a result of the heavy rains that fell today in the Konso Zone Segen District, Ailota Dokatu Kebele, and Garche Kebele, the Konso Development Association reported that many people and animals drowned.
“Such a sudden event will cause severe harm to a society that is already in serious trouble due to drought and man-made disasters.” He explained by saying.
He asserted that society should exercise extreme caution and that all parties involved must immediately convey messages in order to prevent another abrupt incident
