ADDIS ABABA – Two people died after a vehicle veered off the main road and plunged down a cliff in East Gojjam Zone of Amhara regional state today.
The accident involving a land cruiser happened at 08:00a.m. local time in Tiru Selam Kebele..
The land cruiser was heading from Motta to Bahir Dar city with seven passengers on board when the accident occurred in an area called Adiaba.
The car veered off the main lane and went airborne, losing traction when it hit the ground 600m off a cliff, the Motta Town Communication Office said in a statement.
Two passengers died on the spot, the Office said .
Five others including the driver sustained injuries from the accident, and were taken to Shegaw Motta General Hospital for treatment.
The police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, the office said.
