Vaccination Rates Fall Off as Ethiopia Logs 20 New Covid Cases

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has today confirmed 20 new Covid-19 infections as well as vaccination pace slows down, according to the ministry of health report.

Today’s positive infections, identified from nearly 3,300 Coronavirus teats carried out in the past twenty-four hours, have taken the confirmed cases tally to 470, 025.



The ministry also says one person has passed away due to the acute respiratory disease on Saturday after reporting zero fatalities for four consecutive days. The death toll currently stands at 7, 509.

It has also reported the lowest daily recovery tally since March 21, 2022.

Only 48 patients have recuperated from the disease on the day, reveals the ’ update that puts the recovery count at 453, 565.

There are now 8, 949 confirmed active cases of Covid-19. Of which, at least 17 patients are severely sick and are receiving treatments in the ICU, the report says.

Health officials are still advising people to remain vigilant and wear face-mask when in gatherings and using public transport services in addition to getting the vaccine shot.



Data from its latest report, however, shows not a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine has been administered on Saturday as the vaccine drive remains at stand still.

To date, Ethiopia has administered 29.41 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, while more than 24.5 million its citizens are fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus.

Both figures have remained unchanged for the four days in a row in the report issued by the ministry, which offered the first Covid vaccine in the country on March 13, last year..
